Tour de Cure - 2009

This weekend, John, Margaret & Steve, myself, Joseph, Philip, and Annette rode the Tour de Cure (the 27 mile loop).

It was a great ride. I was very impressed by everyone's riding... Margaret and Steve have been training down in the Bay Area and were in fine form. John hadn't really had much time to train but did the whole ride anyway, very impressive (and marginally crazy ;-). And Annette (who has even less spare time) rode well through the quite hilly early section of the ride before the heat got to be too much.

The boys did an awesome job too. Joseph was on his mountain bike with knobby tires. He was a real trooper and kept up a strong pace even though I know he was pretty tired in the second half, especially the first few miles after the rest stop. He perfected the art of drafting very quickly once he realized how much energy he could save riding in the pull of the tandem. ;-)

Philip was also fantastic, pumping along unflaggingly with lots of power and energy on the back of the tandem, and providing some pretty excellent entertainment along the way ("There is no way this is worth a T-shirt!"). LOL.

Here are some photos of the after-event event. Thanks J&K&K for getting the yummy Chinese food. And a huge thank you Claire for creating such a beautiful space & welcoming atmosphere for the party - it was very inviting.
