Philip and the Year of Nine

The youngest bean on this particular branch of the Warton vine, Philip, turned 9 yesterday! We threw a little party for him with special guest Katie - whose parents tried to make it seem as if we were baby-sitting! :)

We all had a good time and he got some pretty awesome gifts. Aunt Margaret and Uncle Steve gave an RC Lego car which was a huge hit, he had it put together within 30 minutes and almost forgot to open his other present in his drive to get it finished. ;-)

The cake! Too bad Mr. Moron behind the camera didn't realize he was shooting the writing upside down, which is why you're getting a headache from trying to correct the perspective. LOL.

Young Philip makes a Lego stop-action movie

Philip has been pretty interested in a) movies and b) Legos. So he combined the two and made a stop-action Lego movie! Here it is, along with a mock-news report I wrote (ala The Onion).

Area youngster makes first stop-action motion picture

Newswire reports today confirm that Portland, Oregon youngster Philip "Ewok" Warton has created his first ever stop-action moving picture. "It took me three days," he said, "plus it's in lego!"

Local residents were amazed and amused by the Warton household's first "talkie," though the nipper's father was a bit concerned about the number of shutter activations the old camera had to go through during the motion picture production.

"Well, this here camera is pretty old to start with," Warton senior said, "and I just don't know how much more she can take. There're more than 400 photo-graphs in that there flick!"

"Still, I sure am proud of the little fellow. Mercy knows I couldn't have done that when I was 8 years old."

Initial reviews for the movie were positive, with one reviewer calling it "strange but pretty funny." In an exclusive scoop, this publication has gotten access to the full, uncut version of the picture show, and invites readers to see for themselves and just tell us if it isn't a great effort for this first-time producer/director/camera man/actor/grip/gaffer/stunt man.
